Meet Jessica

Jessica Borkenhagen, MS, LPCC

Creativity, teaching, and a genuine desire to help shape everything I do, whether I am at work or going about my daily life.

I come from a background in education and service. I started out teaching art in both public and private schools. Over the years, I have also worked as a family ministry director, foster parent, and healthcare client advocate. My focus has always been on connecting with others and encouraging progress through relationships, building skills, and supporting spiritual growth. Now, I bring this same commitment to my work as a therapist. I help adults and adolescents who are dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, and life changes, as well as couples working through infidelity, communication problems, loss, and family challenges.

I strongly believe in the therapeutic process, not because I learned about its benefits from professors and books, but because I experienced the transformative results in my own life.  I now have the honor of walking with others as they face their own struggles head-on.

A peaceful therapy room with two large windows, two cozy armchairs, a tan leather loveseat, blue throw pillows, a wooden coffee table, a floor plant, a lamp, and a bookshelf.

Life can feel overwhelming with the noise and expectations from society, family, friends, and the media. Straight River Counseling offers a quiet space where you can hear your own voice, explore your thoughts and experiences, and leave with clarity, goals, and skills.
